There are some new funding models opening up this Fall of 2021.

The 150 Time Immemorial Funding Program  (here is the BC Alliance of Arts and Culture announcement.)

DETAILS: Administered through the First Peoples’ Cultural Foundation and Heritage BC, the new, $30-million 150 Time Immemorial grant program will fund projects that educate people about B.C.’s colonial past, advance reconciliation and promote inclusivity and diversity for the province’s future. Indigenous communities, local governments and not-for-profit heritage organizations with an Indigenous or heritage mandate are eligible to submit applications starting in fall 2021.

Pathways to Collaboration (contact UBC Indigenous Relations for more information, at Josh van Loon, jvanloon@ubcm.ca, 604.270.8226 ext. 113)

Pathways to Collaboration is a joint initiative of the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM), the Province of British Columbia, and the First Nations Summit with funding from the Indigenous Business & Investment Council (IBIC). The project aims to showcase the growing number of successful economic development collaborations and partnerships between First Nations and local governments, while highlighting lessons learned and key steps to success.

Community to Community Forum (funding applications are now open, for forums to offer in 2022)

In January 1997, the Union of British Columbia Municipalities (UBCM) and the First Nations Summit (FNS) jointly organized the first province-wide Community to Community (C2C) Forum. This event brought together First Nations and local governments from across BC to discuss common goals and opportunities for joint action. The success of the event was due to a spirit of goodwill and an open exchange of concerns, ideas, and constructive viewpoints. Since 1999, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Indigenous Services Canada have provided funding for the C2C program.
