[Webinar] The Shed Effect: Celebrating the Impact of Men's Sheds
This November, as we mark International Men’s Day, we're celebrating The Shed Effect—our national campaign showcasing the incredible impact Sheds make in their communities through volunteer projects and activities. " The Shed Effect " is the ripple created when Shedders extend their efforts beyond the walls of the Shed, making a difference in the lives of their neighbours and the broader community.
The National Webinar on November 19, a virtual celebration featuring a keynote address from Volunteer Canada President and CEO Dr. Megan Conway, is the centrepiece of the campaign. We hope you’ll join us. At the same time, many Sheds across Canada will be opening their doors in November, hosting "Open Shed" events and welcoming neighbours to experience The Shed Effect in action.
Dr. Raza Mirza, Chief Operation Officer, HelpAge Canada, and Assistant Professor, University of Toronto Institute for Life Course and Aging, will present new research on the social value of Men’s Sheds
Our panel of community partners will offer insights and examples of the impact of Sheds across Canada, featuring:
- Sarrah Storey, Mayor, Village of Fraser Lake, and and Second Vice-President, Union of BC Municipalities
- Karen McDonald, Executive Director, Sage Seniors Association, and and Co-Chair, Pan-Canadian CBSS Leadership Council
- Connie Newman, Executive Director, Manitoba Association of Senior Communities
