[Survey] Social Isolation and Loneliness
The Canadian Coalition for Seniors’ Mental Health is working on a new project on Social Isolation and Loneliness. This project is intended to create Canadian Guidelines for health and social service providers so they can identify and address social isolation and loneliness among older adults. The focus of this survey is to hear from older adults on this topic.
You are being invited to participate in this survey because you are an adult (65+). We ask, as you complete this survey, please reflect on your lived experience. Your responses will be used to inform national clinical guidelines to address social isolation and loneliness in older adults. If you require assistance to fill in this survey from a family member or a friend, please feel free to do so.
As you complete this survey, please consider that social isolation and loneliness are two different things. Loneliness is a feeling of being alone, regardless of the amount of social contact. Social isolation is a lack in the number of social connections. Social isolation can lead to loneliness in some people, whereas others can feel comfortable being alone and some people can feel lonely even with multiple social connections.
This survey should take roughly 5-7 minutes to complete.
Please read the attached letter of information. By advancing to the next page of this survey, you indicate your consent to participate.
