2023 Age-friendly communities grants are open for applications

The 2023 age-friendly communities grants opened for applications on June 1, 2023, and close on July 28 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.

All Indigenous and local governments are eligible to apply.

Funded by the Ministry of Health, BC Healthy Communities Society (BCHC) delivers age-friendly communities grants in partnership with the Ministry of Health. The grants offer funding across two streams: Planning (Stream 1) up to $25,000 and Projects (Stream 2) up to $15,000. The grants include in-kind, capacity-building supports customized to individual communities and delivered by BCHC staff. Learn more here.

The AFC grants are part of the Age-friendly Communities (AFC) Program, which contains two components: 1. AFC Grants that offer cash funding combined with capacity building supports that are customized to individual communities and 2. Tools and resources developed and curated for those building age-friendly communities.

Age-friendly communities support older adults to age-in-place, and live active, socially engaged, independent lives. An age-friendly approach considers the diverse needs and contributions of older adults in community planning and policymaking, ultimately benefiting community members of all ages.
