[BC-Wide] BC Hydro Broad Impact and Grassroots Grants (Deadline: March 31, 2025)
Funding for non-profit organizations and registered charities
By supplying electricity to the people and businesses of British Columbia, BC Hydro provides an essential and important service. However, they also believe in doing more than that.
They accept funding applications from eligible organizations to develop new or expand existing programs that align with one or more of their three focus areas.
Two Types of Grants Available
BC Hydro offers two types of grants to support non-profit organizations and registered charities making a difference in their communities.
- Broad Impact Grants
- BC Hydro provides funding of up to $10,000 for organizations to expand an existing program or develop a new program across multiple communities in B.C.
- Grassroots Grants
- BC Hydro provides funding of up to $2,000 to develop new or enhance existing community-based programs in B.C.
How It Works
To qualify for a community grant, programs or initiatives must align with one of BC Hydro's three focus areas:
- Building the STEM workforce of tomorrow: We support organizations with programs that focus on youth education in the areas of STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) and trades training. Our goal is to help foster a more highly qualified workforce for B.C.βs future. Projects or programs with a particular focus on Indigenous communities are at the top of our list.
- Safety Education: BC Hydro supports organizations with programs that focus on public safety. Projects or programs promoting electrical safety, water safety, and emergency preparedness are given top priority.
- Developing a Clean and Sustainable Future: BC Hydro supports organizations with programs that contribute to a more sustainable future. Projects or programs that increase awareness and take steps toward environmental conservation, energy efficiency, and reducing carbon emissions are prioritized.
