[BC-Wide] BC Inclusive Communities Grants (BC-ICG)

Grassroots organizations throughout British Columbia can now apply for as much as $5,000 in one-time grants to fund projects that create stronger, more inclusive communities by promoting anti-racism, inclusivity and multiculturalism. The Province is accepting applications for the revamped BC Inclusive Communities Grants (BC-ICG) program between Sept. 15 and Oct. 19, 2026.

Supporting more efficient community building throughout B.C.

The grant program features two funding pathways: one for urban communities, such as Metro Vancouver and Greater Victoria, and one for rural and remote regions, including the Interior, northern B.C., the Kootenays and coastal communities. This will help address inequities by supporting rural organizations that face isolation and resource constraints.

The BC-ICG will also prioritize smaller non-profits to support grassroots projects that are community-led and community-serving. To select more targeted initiatives, the BC-ICG will use data collected under the Anti-Racism Act, the Anti-Racism Data Act and the Racist Incident Helpline.

To be eligible, projects must begin on or after April 1, 2027, and be completed by March 31, 2028. Learn more and apply here

To be eligible for the grants, organizations must be: 

• a registered B.C.-based non-profit organization in good standing with a B.C. address
• serving racialized, Indigenous communities and/or racialized communities or faith-based communities that experience racialization as a result of their faith
• operational at the time of application, with an annual budget less than $1 million

The Urban Community Grants are divided into the following categories:

• Intercultural Understanding and Exchange (such as community events or dialogues fostering cross-cultural interaction, storytelling sessions, cultural sharing workshops, or collaborative arts projects)
• Racial Equity Education and Advocacy (such as workshops addressing systemic racism in employment, housing, education, or public services)
• Community Resilience Building (such as neighbourhood alliances or racial equity-focused planning sessions, programs supporting participation of under-represented groups in local decision-making)

The Rural Community Grants are divided into the following categories:

• Localized Intercultural Programs (such as adapted cultural-exchange activities in remote settings, resource-sharing initiatives connecting isolated groups with multicultural networks)
• Racial Equity Capacity Building (such as training on recognizing and responding to racism or hate incidents in smaller communities, awareness sessions on reporting and bystander intervention)
• Resilience and Inclusion Initiatives (such as community-led activities addressing isolation, programs fostering trust and racial equity in under-resourced areas, including Indigenous-local partnerships)

Organizations may not apply for funding to cover expenses such as salaries and fees not directly related to delivering the project, capital projects, major equipment purchases, alcohol or recurring business expenses.

Appropriate expenses include equipment rental, event or workshop materials such as stationery, project co-ordinator’s fees and workshop fees.
