[BC-Wide] Hamber Foundation (deadline: Sept 15 and Mar 15 annually)
The Hamber Foundation is incorporated under the Societies Act of British Columbia and is registered under the Income Tax Act of Canada as a private charity. The Foundation makes grants for cultural, educational and charitable purposes within the Province of British Columbia. The Foundation prefers to support specific projects rather than contributing to general sustaining assistance or to large capital projects. The Foundation may review major grant proposals from time to time.
HEALTH & WELFARE
Objective:
To support activities that promote health by preventing or relieving mental or physical health conditions through the provision of services, education, or support for individuals with conditions or their informal caregivers and families.
Priorities:
- Programs that support children, especially those with disabilities.
- Marginalized groups, including Indigenous Peoples, older adults, women and youth at risk.
Guiding Principles:
- Give preference to projects that have added value or provide longer-term or sustainable benefits.
- Allow for capital expenditure projects.
- Avoid projects with very large financial requirements or long-term capital investments.
- Avoid projects with large organizations that are well established and have their own major sources of funding, such as hospital auxiliaries and foundations.
Application deadlines are March 15 and September 15 annually. Both successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified of the Board of Governors’ decision by June 15 and December 15.
