[Canada-Wide] Operating Grant : Aging in the Community (Evaluating community-based programs and social innovations that support aging in the community)

Purpose

The purpose of this funding opportunity is to evaluate established community-based programs and/or social innovations that support aging in the community, with the aim of generating co-created and actionable evidence to strengthen community health systems and enhance the health span and overall well-being of older persons living in the community.

Objectives

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness, sustainability, and contextual factors influencing performance of established community-based programs and/or social innovations that support aging in the community.
  • Identify evidence informed opportunities for spread and scale, as well as any necessary adaptations, as appropriate.
  • Generate actionable evidence to inform policy, strengthen community health systems, and improve the health span and overall well-being of older persons living in the community.
  • Foster partnerships between academic institutions and community-based organizations to enhance the relevance, objectivity, and uptake of evaluation findings.

Research Areas

All projects must evaluate an established community-based program and/or social innovation serving older community-dwelling persons.

In addition, there are three (3) dedicated funding pools that will support applications relevant to:

  • Underserved, Rural and Remote Regions
  • Equity-Denied and/or Rights-Holding Communities
  • Veterans and Military Families

The total amount available for this funding opportunity is $3.3M, enough to fund approximately eleven (11) grants. This amount may increase if additional funding partners participate. The maximum amount per grant is $150,000 per year for up to two (2) years, for a total of $300,000 per grant.
