Intergenerational Shared Housing Opportunity

news image

Canada HomeShare is excited to partner with Simon Fraser University to bring a facilitated model of shared housing to Metro Vancouver. They are looking for older adults who would like to share their home with a student for the coming school year. Students pay between $400-$600 in monthly rent and contribute up to seven hours per week of assistance around the home and/or companionship.

The goal of HomeShare is to foster intergenerational relationships, support aging in place for older adults while simultaneously addressing the affordable rental crisis faced by students.

Canada HomeShare Social Workers create matches that meet both the needs of the home provider and student using a framework designed and developed by the National Initiative for the Care of the Elderly.

Metro Vancouver HomeShare will be hosting two online informational sessions in the coming weeks to present details on the program and answer questions.

If you have any questions or would like further information, please contact info@canadahomeshare.com .
