JOB PURPOSE
In service of UWBC’s work in supporting seniors to remain active, connected, and engaged in their communities, this role will work to strengthen the impact, effectiveness and efficiency of community-based senior serving organizations across the Province through learning and improvement strategies. By bringing together recommendations from community consultations, program evaluations, communities of practice, and the research literature, this role will support community organizations serving seniors and other local, regional, and provincial partners to reduce barriers to access to community services, and position the sector to respond to the growing population of older adults who are vulnerable or at risk of vulnerability to live well in their own homes and communities for as long as possible. This role will focus on skills training, coaching, quality assurance and improvement, and will support organizations to build relationships, enhance their impact, increase efficiencies, and foster collaborative leadership.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains meaningful, trusted relationships with seniors serving organizations
- Facilitates active engagement and learning among seniors serving organizations in UWBC Healthy Aging programs and investments.
- Facilitates connections between the health sector and community-based organizations at the community and Provincial level.
- Coordinates the execution of knowledge and action networks, including a partnership strategy, communities of practice, and community engagement initiatives
- Contributes to local, provincial, and federal discussions about the relevance and contribution of the Community Based Seniors Serving Sector
- Supports the Department in engaging with different provincial ministries on related strategic initiatives including, but not limited to, relationships with Union of BC Municipalities and local government; with primary health partners; and with other stakeholders
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Education &
- 4 year BA in Public Health, Social Policy
Experience:
- 3 years of progressive responsibility in a nonprofit or public sector setting
- Experience engaging and building relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders
- 3 years of experience working with government, civil society, and non-profit sector including public interface and community development
- Understanding of the BC Health Sector and Quality Improvement concepts
- Project and program management experience, including planning, development, implementation, and evaluation, and ability to be agile and adapt quickly and effectively
- Experience in policy writing, document preparation, research, and environmental scans / literature reviews
- Understanding of decolonization, anti-oppression, and social justice frameworks and theories
Skills:
- Effective and empathetic communication style, with the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Indigenous communities
- Effective administrative skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a climate of shifting priorities, and with the expertise to manage multiple projects and achieve required outcomes
- Excellent community convening skills
- Adaptable and flexible
- Decisive and action-oriented
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to listen with curiosity
- Facilitation and coaching skills
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Occasional hours outside of business hours to attend meetings and events
- Require a driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Provincial travel required

This is a bargaining unit role with CUPE 1760. This position is a pay grade 39 which is $88,502.29 annually for the Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley Region and $79,874.95 for any regions outside Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley Region.
