Provide Your Input: HSO National Long-Term Care Services Standard
Deadline to submit input: July 31st, 2021
The Standards Council of Canada (SCC), Health Standards Organization (HSO) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA Group) are working collaboratively on developing two new national standards for LTC that are shaped by the needs of residents, families and the LTC workforce.
HSO, an affiliate of Accreditation Canada (AC), is Canada’s only Standards Development Organization (SDO) solely dedicated to health and social services. In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, HSO will be revising the current Long-Term Care Services standard (last updated in 2020) to bring the voice of residents, families and the LTC workforce to the forefront of developing safe, reliable and high-quality care practices.
The new standard CAN/HSO 21001:2022 – Long-Term Care Services (HSO National Long-Term Care Services Standard) will be developed as a National Standard of Canada, following the requirements set by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC). It will used as part of the future Accreditation Canada Qmentum Long-Term Care Program.
As we begin designing and building the new standard, we want to hear from Canadians and what matters most to you when it comes to long-term care. Your responses will help shape what an optimal future state of LTC ought to look like in Canada.
