Addressing Stigma - Aging and Older Adults
On Nov 24, 2020, Healthy Aging by United Way hosted a webinar on the topic of Addressing Stigma - Aging and Older Adults. This webinar provided an overview of stigma as outlined in the Public Health Agency of Canada's (PHAC) 'Stigma Action Framework for Building an Inclusive Health System' and and outline of PHAC's role in healthy aging and stigma.
Presenters discussed the importance of fostering greater mental health and resilience amongst older adults. Presenters also shared interim findings from the 'Older Adults Self-Isolating During Covid-19' project and discuss other resources, such as the 'Chief Public Health Officer’s Report on the State of Public Health in Canada 2019 - Addressing Stigma: Towards a More Inclusive Health System'.
