Evidence and best practices for Community based food security projects in BC
This paper explores the experiences in BC with community-based food security projects and elsewhere and aims to promote common understanding that will support collaborative planning of effective, evidence-based programs.
It provides best practices and recommendations for community food security programs, including what objectives should be. It also provides evidence on the various types of food security programs in BC, such as food banks and community gardens. The authors describe that such initiatives exist on a food security continuum (or spectrum) from charity to community development to social enterprise.
