Hospice Care Alliance of British Columbia Terms of Reference
In the Fall of 2019, the PHWG surveyed over 70 hospice organizations province-wide to get a better understanding of the current state of hospice services and programs. The hospice care current state assessment, with an unprecedented 76% response rate, revealed the strengths, gaps, challenges, and opportunities for improvement for BC’s hospice care sector.
Following the current state assessment, the PHWG hosted a Roundtable with 36 provincial hospice palliative care stakeholders to identify priorities and co-design a path forward for BC’s hospice care sector. The outcome was the release of the first of its kind provincial report, “Hospice Care in British Columbia: The Path Forward” which proposed a 10-step action plan to strengthen and leverage the existing volunteer-driven hospice services to play a bigger role in enhancing access to psychosocial and practical supports in local communities across the province.
