[Recording] What are Data?
Delivered by the Charity Insights Canada Project (CICP) through our Community Education Centre, this introductory workshop is designed for nonprofit and charitable professionals who feel unsure about data or how to use it. We break down what “data” really means in a nonprofit context, explain common terms in plain language, and explore how data can be used thoughtfully and ethically to support decision-making, storytelling, and community impact. In this session, you will learn:
- What “data” means in a nonprofit and charitable context
- Common data terms and concepts explained in plain language
- How organizations use data for decision-making, storytelling, and demonstrating impact
- How to develop strong and meaningful research questions
- How to think about equity and inclusion when working with data
