[Report] 2024-2025 Report on Homeless Counts in B.C.
In 2025, the Province of British Columbia funded homeless counts in 20 communities.
- BC Housing, the Ministry of Housing and Municipal Affairs, the Homelessness Services Association of BC and the B.C. Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres collaborated on the homeless counts in B.C.
- Homeless counts give important baseline information on the estimated number, key demographic and service provision needs of people experiencing homelessness. A Point in Time count (PiT count) provides a snapshot of people who are experiencing homelessness in a 24-hour period.
- The 2025 homeless count survey included questions about racial identity and acquired brain injuries. These new questions were introduced in 2020/21.
- The homeless count aligns with the Province’s long-term multi-ministry Preventing and Reducing Homelessness Integrated Data Project
- More information about this can be found on the Preventing and Reducing Homelessness Integrated Data Project website: Preventing and reducing homelessness: An integrated data project - Province of British Columbia (gov.bc.ca)
- The Province’s Point-in-Time Homeless counts will help the Province and communities understand who is experiencing homelessness and why, and the results inform the development of supports and services that will best help people in need in different communities.
