[Report] The Caregiver Rx Initiative

resource image

With support from the Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence, CISP launched the Caregiver Rx Initiative to co-design and evaluate a social prescribing pathway for caregivers across Canada. In collaboration with four provincial caregiver organizations, this two-year pilot initiative assessed how social prescribing can be

effectively integrated into caregiver support systems.

The pilot focused on enhancing caregiver well-being, strengthening social networks, and improving access to meaningful resources. Across all provincial sites, social prescribing was recognized as a powerful approach to addressing the unique needs of caregivers.

Through the Caregiver Rx Initiative, we conducted a national evaluation that consisted of two main components: Impact and Outcomes Evaluation and Process Evaluation. The findings of these evaluations will help inform the adoption, spread, and scaling of future social prescribing initiatives for caregivers in Canada.
