[Toolkit] Youth in Action: A Toolkit for Young Dementia Supporters

resource image

By 2050, Canadians will dedicate 1.4 billion hours annually to supporting people living with dementia, and today’s youth will be at the heart of that care.

Inspired by advocate Phyllis Fehr, researchers and youth co-designed the Youth in Action Toolkit to equip kids in grade five and up (ages 9+) with the knowledge, games, and empathy needed to support loved ones without fear. This free resource fills a crucial gap, helping the next generation build stronger, more inclusive circles of care. In the Toolkit, you will find:

  • Information about dementia
  • Ways to help people living with dementia, whether they are family members or people you pass in the community
  • Games and an action plan to help you use what you learned

Visit the Alzheimer Society of Ontario Toolkit web page to learn more about the toolkit and how it was created. (Attached below is a printable version of the toolkit.)
