Transportation to COVID-19 vaccination sites - What is working for seniors?
A lack of transportation is preventing an untold number of BC’s older adults from getting their vaccinations. On Wednesday, May 26th, 2021, the CBSS Provincial Working Group on Seniors Transportation hosted a webinar to highlight solutions and services tackling this issue in BC and across Canada. The Working Group was joined by a panel of experts with different viewpoints: Ramona Kaptyn, CARP described the challenges seniors in the Surrey/White Rock area are experiencing. Arthur Orsini with Vancouver Coastal Health shared VCH’s approach, Beverley Pitman from United Way of Lower Mainland, on behalf of Vicki Pilot with Seniors Serving Seniors, provided an overview of how community serving organizations are stepping up to the challenge in Victoria. Ryan Staley provided an overview of CoastalRides’s program on the Sunshine Coast.
