Intergenerational Holiday event: Virtual Variety Show - Joke telling compilation for seniors over the holidays

resource image

This year has been exceptionally difficult for seniors and the upcoming holiday season without family and friends able to visit is increasing anxiety and sadness. To help share some humour and alleviate some of the feelings of isolation and loneliness over the holidays, Kootenay Seniors has decided to collect short videos and students telling jokes to compile and show at various seniors' facilities and residences. Kootenay Seniors has asked teachers and aides to collect these videos as a community-benefit intergenerational activity with their students. Kootenay Seniors hopes that being able to watch some students telling jokes and laughing will brighten these seniors' spirits a little.

Attached are two posters (one for elementary/middle school students, and one is for high school students) and a permission slip. Other CBSS programs/agencies are welcome to use these as templates for a similar project in their community!
