Webinar: WEAAD Interactive Online Panel Discussion with Canadian Experts

resource image

WEAAD (World Elder Abuse Awareness Day) is marked each year on June 15. It is an official United Nations International Day acknowledging the significance of elder abuse as a public health and human rights issue. Since 2006, communities throughout the country and around the world have honoured this day to raise the visibility of elder abuse by organizing events to share information and promote resources and services that can help increase seniors’ safety and well-being.

On June 15, 2020, Elder Abuse Prevention OntarioCanAge, and the Canadian Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse hosted a live online debate with leaders and experts to discuss the issue of isolation and neglect of older Canadians during the COVID-19 pandemic in light of the recent shocking report about long-term care homes. See the attached recording.
