[Training] Volunteer Management Training Series applications open (apply by Sept 8, 2026)

United Way BC in partnership with Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives will be offering the Volunteer Management Training Series in October 2026 virtually online. 

The Volunteer Management Training Series (VMTS) is an introductory course where we cover the integral components of a successful volunteer program, and touch on the changes brought on by COVID-19. This is a great training series for new professionals and individuals who are interested in learning more about volunteer resource administration. Participants who successfully complete all series requirements will receive a VMTS certificate. This training is for organizations that work directly with seniors.  

The course will be offered starting in October 2026. The dates for this cohort are: 

October 2, 2026 (9am-3pm, w/ breaks) 

October 9, 2026 (9am-3pm, w/ breaks) 

October 16, 2026 (9am-3pm, w/ breaks)

• Planning a Volunteer Program 
• Recruitment, Marketing, and Communications 
• Interviewing and Screening 
• Orientation and Training 
• Supervision and Evaluation 
• Recognition, Retention, and Staff-Volunteer Relations  

Limited Spaces & Fees: 

This course is subsidized by United Way BC and only available to the 18 selected applications. Please answer your application questions thoughtfully as they will be reviewed in selecting participants. 

The cost to attend VMTS directly through RCRG is $300.00. United Way BC is offering a sliding scale subsidy for applicants. Fees range from $50-$150 based on your organization size. Should the fee be a hardship, please contact surbhir@uwbc.ca after you have applied. 

Applications are due by September 8, 2026. All applications will be reviewed, and you will hear back by September 15, 2026.
