UWBC Volunteer Management Workshop Series: When Volunteer Boundaries Get Crossed w/ Lindsay Baker
Organizations must set boundaries on volunteer activity to protect the health and safety of both clients and volunteers. Role descriptions, codes of conduct, and program policies and procedures are key tools that assist with identifying and outlining expectations around the limits of a volunteer role and on the relationship between clients and volunteers.
Once these are in place, communicating and reinforcing these expectations to all participants is essential. Volunteers also need training and ongoing coaching to help them to recognize possible boundary blur, and to effectively address breaches while volunteering.
This webinar will provide you with tools you can use to identify and communicate boundaries, techniques volunteers can use to assert and maintain boundaries with clients, and frameworks to swiftly address boundary breaches when they happen.
