[Webinar] Recognizing Abuse: Knowing When to Act and How to Respond

event and training image

Webinar date: Nov 10 at 1pm PT

What do you do when you sense that “something isn’t right”? How do you respond when a client discloses abuse—and how do you know when to seek help?

This practical session explores how to recognize possible abuse, respond to disclosures, and navigate pathways to support in BC. Participants will learn what happens when a report is made to a Designated Agency, including the potential for further assessment or investigation and the range of short- and longer-term supports that may follow.

Unlike suspected child abuse, there is no mandatory reporting requirement for abuse of adults in BC. This creates an important space for professional judgment, consultation, and supporting an adult’s self-determination while responding appropriately to safety concerns.

Presenters:

April Struthers MED, RCC (BC Association of CRNS)

Cayce Laviolette (Vancouver Coastal Health)
