[Webinar] Seniors + Place
Thursday, October 23 · 10am PST
Zoom - Free with RSVP
How can public spaces welcome older adults as active citizens and culture carriers—rather than treating aging as an afterthought?
This session looks at the realities of ageism, social isolation, and unsafe infrastructure, while also lifting up the possibilities: elders with time, wisdom, and a desire to participate. From plazas and parks to housing and transit, we’ll learn from placemakers working with seniors to create environments where belonging runs across generations.
We’re honored to feature speakers who will share experiences from their projects/programs, showing how elder participation can strengthen neighborhoods, deepen civic trust, and bring fresh energy to community life.
What we’ll explore:
- Countering ageism and reframing older adults as civic leaders
- Making environments walkable, accessible, and supportive of aging in place
- Practical models for inviting seniors into co-design and stewardship
- Intergenerational initiatives that build bridges between youth and elders
- Examples of age-friendly placemaking from local and global contexts
