resource image

Older adults are the most frequent targets of fraud, and these crimes often go unreported due to victims' embarrassment at being taken advantage of. CBSS staff and volunteers can play an important role in helping to prevent seniors being scammed by learning about common types of fraud and strategies to protect against them.

On Oct 28, 2020, Healthy Aging by United Way hosted this webinar which explored

  • How to recognize fraud and the types of scams that typically target seniors
  • Digital security for seniors online - How to help seniors avoid being victims of fraud
  • What to do if you think you, or someone you know, is being scammed

Presenters:

  1. Cpl Vinh NGO - "E" Division - Federal Policing Prevention and Engagement (FPPE)
  2. Linda Fawcus - Gluu Technology Society
  3. Justin Lee - Community Education Volunteer for Seniors First BC - Seniors First BC
