[Webinar Recording] BC Transit, Mobility Justice, and the Challenges of Population Aging

In this webinar, three representatives of BC Transit describe the agency's efforts to serve the growing number of older adults in BC who are making the shift from driving a private vehicle to public or paratransit or other forms of transport.
- What does accessible transit look like in BC these days?
- In small town and rural/remote areas of the province?
- Are there new services that accessible-transit users can look forward to, and if so, where will they be?
- Is BC Transit planning to expand HandyDART services and again, if so, what communities will be served?
Message from BC Transit:
BC Transit often hear from residents and organizations asking how to bring transit or handyDART services to their community. The best first step is to connect with your local government staff, as BC Transit works in partnership with municipalities and regional districts to plan and fund services. Even if formal service isn’t immediately possible, we’re always open to conversations — there may be opportunities to align with existing programs like Health Connections or identify options to better integrate with other services.
BC Transit is a provincial organization, and we support more than 130 communities across British Columbia. To ensure your inquiry reaches the right team, please use the Contact Us feature on our website and include your community name and a brief description of your request.
